About MSU-Detroit Partnerships
During the last several years, MSU has worked to strengthen and expand its partnerships in the Detroit region and Wayne county. YouthVille Detroit, a program of the Detroit Youth Foundation, is located in an ideal facility for furthering these efforts. MSU recently rented 3,000 square-feet of space within the YouthVille building. The MSU portion of the facility will:

  • Serve as a hub, a centralized location, for collaborative research in Detroit and Wayne county, especially research that focuses on youth, community, and economic development
  • Support youth and their families who are considering college but need more information

Conveniently located in Detroit's New Center area, the facility is a place where MSU and community partners can:

  • Use meeting rooms to exchange ideas, discuss collaboration, and make presentations
  • Offer training and learning opportunities
  • Work on community-based research projects
  • Utilize research observation suites

Vision
The vision of MSU-Detroit Partnerships is to maintain a facility that will support the development of campus-community partnerships focused on community-identified issues.

Programs offered will promote collaboration, networking, partnerships, and community-based research for MSU faculty, students, and the Detroit community. Attention will also be paid to projects and programs that benefit children and youth in Detroit and support their educational efforts and aspirations.

MSU's Commitment to Campus-Community Engagement

About the YouthVille Detroit Program
The Detroit Youth Foundation (DYF) established YouthVille Detroit, a comprehensive, multi-service facility located in Detroit's New Center area, to promote positive development among youth ages 11 to 19. The facility provides a central place for youth to gather in a safe environment while learning new skills and developing positive peer and adult relationships. The 73,000 square-foot facility ensures that all the youth members are safe by having a sign-in at the front reception.

The facility houses program partners, organizations that are directly contracted to work with DYF staff in providing program resources to youth members. The facility also houses tenant partners, such as MSU-Detroit Partnerships, that lease space from DYF for administrative and/or program purposes.
